Grade 3-8 as of the 2023-24 school year
Great Gillson reimagined! We’ll explore Gillson Park while engaging in a wide variety of activities along our lakefront! Get ready to make lifelong friends and memories as you swim, sail, venture out on weekly field trips, and are inspired by our “Thursday Thrill” events! Location: Gillson Park; Wallace Bowl

4-Week Camp

2-Week Camp

BEGINNER SAILING CAMP
Grade 4-8 as of the 2023-24 school year (must be able to demonstrate ability to swim 25 yards on first day of camp)
Beginner sailors learn basic sailing terms, knots, safety and how to rig a boat. On the water, students will start sailing sunfish and work their way up to catamarans. Location: Gillson Park, Sailing Beach

2-Week Camps

INTERMEDIATE SAILING CAMP
Grade 4-8 as of the 2023-24 school year (must be able to demonstrate ability to swim 25 yards on first day of camp)
Intermediate sailors get a review of the basics then move to more independent time on the vessels. We’ll also cover wind, currents and safety skills. Location: Gillson Park, Sailing Beach

2-Week Camps

AQUATICS CAMP
Grade 5-8 as of the 2023-2024 school year (must be able to demonstrate ability to swim 25 yards on first day of camp)
Experience the joys of living on Lake Michigan! Kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, banana boat rides, and swimming are just some of the awesome activities at Aquatics Camp! Northwest Passage will teach a class on the first day to help us learn about the vessels and general water safety. New Location: North End of the Swimming Beach

2-Week Camps

JR. LIFEGUARD CAMP
Grade 6-9 as of the 2023-24 school year (must be able to demonstrate ability to swim 25 yards on first day of camp)
Gillson Beach lifeguards teach first aid, rescue techniques, CPR, and rip current education in this lifeguard fundamentals program. In addition to the fun we’ll have along the way, participants are rewarded at the end of the session, when we celebrate with games and present certificates of completion! Location: Gillson Park, Beach House

2-Week Camps

KAYAK AND SUP CAMP
Grade 5-8 as of 2023-2024 School Year
Find adventure on the water learning to paddle kayaks and SUPs in both Lake Michigan and the Skokie Lagoons. Structured lessons and games introduce safety, build awareness and create an educational and exiting environment. Location: Gillson Park, Picnic Area 3
