Welcome Rosie Aliperta!
3/8/23
The Wilmette Park District’s recreation department recently gained a new teammate – give a warm welcome to Rosie Aliperta, our new General Recreation Supervisor! Many of you may have had the pleasure of meeting Rosie at last month’s big event, The Royal Ball. Despite an official start date the following week, Rosie refused to miss out on the fun, and she volunteered her time to help host the special evening for princes and princesses at the Woman’s Club of Wilmette.
The Royal Ball was a fantastic introduction to the community and our special events, which Rosie will be coordinating in her new position. She was thrilled to have such a unique first impression of her new role. “I am eager to apply my skills and knowledge to implement new programs, special events, and overall involvement in the community,” she comments.
Rosie comes to us from Lake Bluff Park District where she spent 5 years as the Recreation Services Manager overseeing nearly all recreation programming in the district. Her first introduction to the Parks and Recreation industry was through several part-time positions at Deerfield Park District. These early positions in the field guided her into recreation programming, and her own experiences around the North Shore and Wilmette, in particular, gave her a desire to find her niche at the Wilmette Park District!
“Wilmette has coincidentally been my backyard for years,” explains Rosie. Having grown up in Glenview, she’s familiar with the area and has fond memories visiting Gillson Beach in her youth. “There’s a sense of familiarity, and still so much to learn and explore throughout this community.” When she noticed that the Park District was hiring for a Recreation Supervisor, she immediately saw the potential to grow her skills, face new challenges and get to know a community she already feels connected to. Rosie is “ready to get involved!”
Her new position as General Recreation Supervisor will have her overseeing various seasonal programs, organizing and hosting special events around the district, and coordinating several of our Beyond the Bell before and after school offerings. It’s a dynamic part to play; and will keep her busy from season to season. Speaking of busy, Rosie’s down time is equally active! She’s always trying something new, from sports and art classes to events and pop-up workshops. “I love to try different activities – it’s a great way to learn new skills and meet people with unique interests,” Rosie explains. She’s in her element during the summer months, enjoying the warm weather while rollerblading or visiting the beach.
Be sure to say hello the next time you see her around the Park District!
